Extra activity---using some old pages (probably from your least exciting looking book in the LFL pile) have students illustrate like in the Sam Dibble Books or the examples on Dogfoose.com
I will pick top winners for a giveaway at each school. I do not know how many I'll be able to get my hands on yet.
Puppets from the McPherson Public Library
To introduce Center: Read a Story with Puppets and have kids help you act out the story. This would be a great time to reinforce expectations about how to use puppets.

Fairy Tales--2nd Grade
For 2nd grade I would advance this one to be fairy tales (Cinderella is a good choice that you probably have lots of different ones from many different countries).
I'm adding a file that would be a good one to use with this center. I got it from this website which has lots of other good fairy tale stuff.
To Introduce Center: Read an audiobook with the class to start--this is a great time to show students how to navigate headphones, website, anything they are driving you crazy with.
Poetry is in and will be delivered Monday.
