Hat Matching Cards ~7 min activity.

Snow Book

Like Snowy Day or White Snow, Bright Snow, Snow by Rylant, etc
Do this lesson right after you make snow playdough with the older classes!!

Fill out Character page together by emphasizing to students how you want them to be listening to each other when they talk and contributing ideas.

Potential ideas:  Have them tell each other about the main character in pairs.
Reward students who can repeat what someone else in class has said.​


Respond:  Characters page (page 3 of this packet)
Once you have done at least 2/3 of it as a class give students their own copy.

Some prompting questions:
What was Teeny Weeny Bop going to the market for?  
Do you think she likes animals?
Does the character in today's story like animals?

​Respond: Venn Diagram  (Compare Teeny Weeny Bop and the Grandma in Sonny Boy (or Sonny Boy)

Design a Snow Queen using Snow Dough.

2nd graders can help make the snow while the younger grades can just play with it.

For embellishments check out drawers, pretty much each building has random small amounts of beads/pipe cleaners and other random things.
