Reading for Pleasure

Day 1: See email for Powerpoint and applicable bookmarks

Day 2: Could either review Genres OR explore how to find genres in the Library catalog (link to genre review) (second genre review game)

Day 3: William Allen White Promotion and/or Reading Bingo.  Students answer the question, what is your favorite genre and why should you try different genres?

Day 4: Start by booktalking a few of the new books that have come from Permabound.  How can you use the back of the book or the first couple pages to figure out the genre?

Review Reading Bingo/Genres Reading for Pleasure OR review how to find these in the catalog and to make recommendations for one another by logging in.  



Reading for Information

This is a super mini research project.  It is just designed to give kids a taste for research.

Students may be more interested the 3D printer and/or strawbees OR they might be more interested in learning how to get a patent.  You decide!  

This would be a GREAT time to pull books about inventions!

Research Model
Day 1: Wha​t do we already know?  What do we want to know?  How can we learn it?

Day 2: Beginning Research
   Where can you find this type of information?
​  Evaluating Websites, do one together with the class.

Day 3:  Find a 3D design to make and/or create.

Day 4:  Perhaps start 3d modeling

Research Model

Day 1: Wha​t do we already know?  What do we want to know?  How can we learn it?
  Example Questions: How do we use them?  How might we use strawbees in class?  How could other classes use them?  Why can you only use certain kinds of plastic?  How do you get a patent for something so simple?


Day 2: Beginning Research
   Where can you find this type of information?
Evaluating Websites.  Do one together with the class.

Day 3: Make a Flyer for collecting plastic recyclables. What is the important information that parents and teachers need to know?
