1-5-20114: Kansas Read/Photographs;
THe kids were good at discussing things in the photographs and comparing their own life-styles to a hundred years ago. Not sure Kinders understand "caption", but we talked about it with each picture, so hopefully.

Kansas Crops: I searched for a video about Kansas Crops, but couldn't find anything for this age group. They got a little bored with me reading the cards and asking them questions. I think some actual props would have helped like showing them corn, actual wheat, etc. or products made from these crops. (I know they would be hard to find this time of year). Just something more to gain their attention than the little worksheet out of Kansas Read. (The cold weather and no outdoor recess isn't helping either! LOL)

Kansas crops, I was informed that they did this last year as kinders, so they weren't too happy. Used Little Red Hen to introduce concept of seed to plate and they enjoyed it even though they've heard it before.
